This lovely black lacquer cabinet boasts two doors and brass hardware, featuring a delicately hand-painted crane and pine tree motif.
This factory is located in the Guangdong region of mainland China. The father is the main person in charge and employs many family members. Day to day operations are run by an aunt while the son is being groomed to take over once his father retires - all of this family greatly adds to the quality and productivity of this factory. Over 300 skilled and non-skilled craftsman work together, passing knowledge and craftsmanship from generation to generation. The working conditions of this group are excellent. The factory provides an excellent lunch each day for the staff. I received this cabinet , It is a piece of junk!!!! When I took it out of the box the doors fell off. The hardware was sooo cheap. I'm putting it in my bath, where it will not be open much and thanks to my husband we got the doors back on. I got rooked, for the money I paid. I would mail it back, but don't want to pay for it.
The product was shipped to me twice, but it was damaged each time in transit. I commend Overstock for the ease of their return process. However, the cabinet was inferior in quality. Additionally, the from metal piece was totally different than what was advertised in the pictures.
light... but cute. Every home needs a touch of Chinoiserie...
I wanted a Chinese cabinet and this one was a great deal, although when the cabinet arrived, I noticed the hardware did not match the picture. One of the main selling features for me was the round metal plate where the handles are. Mine did not have that round plate. Instead, it had 2 smaller rectangle plates. They are decorative, just not pictured above. The hinges were not decorative at all, they are just basic metal hinges which are silver and visible but not that noticeable. That's why I gave this item 4 stars. Other than that, everything else was fine. I still like the cabinet, it still serves my storage purposes. The art is a flat and not bright gold which works for me.
The cabinet was packed well and undamaged when received. The workmanship was good except the tops of the doors. The finishing on the inside tops of the cabinet doors was very bad. Looked like they were totally unfinished and hinges were very crude. Difficulty opening and closing the doors. If the cabinet was not needed to be used often and was bought for decorative purposes then it is a good value.
