The Story Behind the Product

In small town along the Central coast of Viet Nam, Le Anh Phi and her family, as well as a small group of other artisans, have been perfecting the art of handcrafting bamboo items. They primarily focus on tabletop items, but also handcraft vases and other bamboo items. This trade has been passed down in the family for several generations. Creating bamboo art allows these artisans to earn a living through creative expression, rather than traditional farming. Le Anh Phi?s children are learning the process and will take over the business when she is ready to pass it on. Ms. Phi has been recognized by the Vietnam Export Council for providing highest quality bamboo while still taking care of her artisans and ensuring they enjoy a better standard of living. Also, all of these items are environmentally responsible as bamboo is one of the earth?s fastest growing plants, making it a completely renewable resource.

The handcrafted nature of this product will produce minor differences in design and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to its unique qualities. Measurements may vary slightly.

Beautiful bowl set. The color is vibrant and the bowl is unique looking. I have it displayed on my island and when guests come over I get compliments on it all the time. It arrived extremely well protected, so it came in perfect condition. The contrast of the painted wood outside with the natural wood inside makes it more appealing and beautiful. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Overall, very good product. Only downside was the chopsticks were bent and I am unable to use them. The bowl and plate are gorgeous.

Not only are these bowls attractive but are totally functional. They are perfectly designed to keep the chopsticks in place while dining. They can be used for a variety of foods such as rice dishes, pasta salads. etc. Since they are bamboo, it makes me feel good to use them as bamboo is an environmentally sound product. I used them when I had company recently and my guests were so enthralled by these bowls that I have decided to give them a set of four for Christmas.
