Woven in the central Iranian provinces of Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari, these are among the most prized Persian rugs. The luxurious wool of the region and the expert craftsmanship of the rug weavers have made these rugs famous throughout the world. The Bakhtiari tribe, from which these rugs get their name, is one of the most ancient and respected Persian tribes. Today there are nearly 200 villages in the Char Mahal area, each producing unique designs.
Bakhtiari patterns tend to be mostly geometric, sometimes semi-geometric, but seldom curvilinear. The designs are usually very crowded and the colors are rich and bright. The most common Bakhtiari design is a paneled garden design consisting of square, rectangular, diamond or hexagon compartments filled with a floral motif such as a willow tree, cypress tree, bush, or grapevine. This charming rug is approximately 40 years old but has been kept in excellent overall condition. With rich tones of red, ivory, peach, brown, green, navy, and gold, this rug really ties a room together.

I feel that I got the best deal for this beautiful rug! Perfect size for the room, as well as perfect colors that go with the rest of the furniture and pillows, etc. All the colors were true to the photos online, and it got here extremely fast, especially during the holidays. Once again I am very pleased with all the service as well as the product itself from here...

This rug is gorgeous and looked just like the photo for us. It is such a value too as we have seen similar rugs in the thousands!!

We got the rug about a week after placing the order. The size was as described, but the actual rug looks nothing like the picture. I believe it is Bakhtiari, as it has the trademark block pattern, but the colors and design are totally different than represented above. Fortunately, we like it the way it came. It is nice looking for its age but not close to perfect. Due to the fact that it is handmade, it is not perfectly rectangular and the pattern is not perfectly aligned. The pile tends to vary in thickness across the rug, and some colors are faded/run. I would recommend this rug to anyone who prefers character and uniqueness over perfection. It looks great on our spiced bamboo floors, and fits well in our vintage early 20th century home. Overall a pretty good value. One item of note: the rug appeared to have come from an individual, rather than from Overstock's warehouse.
