Asian Style Coffee Table/ Bench (India)

As always, my table came quickly from Overstock....I am constantly amazed at how fast "O" ships. This table is extremely solid....refreshing to NOT have veneers in this day and age. The assembly was fairly quick, but I had to try, try and try again to get the bolts to insert into the legs---assistance was required. However in the end, the tight fit was actually advantageous providing increased stability to the table. I used a rubber ended mallet to assist in getting the wood inserts into place to maximize the firm hold of the bottom shelf. The wood is beautiful, the piece solid. I have not noted any issue with scratching or marring of the top surface as some other reviewer had noted....but I have warned all house occupants to use care. It has a rustic feel about it, yet it is solid construction. The only appearance issue I had was the notable appearance of the supporting bolts under the tabletop surface. Also in a perfect world, I would have the table be twice the width for my living room that has both a sofa and a love seat as it does not suit both as a coffee table, so I eneded up using it as a bench. One reviewers suggestion to use it as television stand, I found intriguing, but the table is not very high and could seemingly put the television too low, unless one has an enormous screen.

It looks great!!! However you may have to take it apart and put it back together a few times b/c it doesn't come with instructions. Here is a tip. There are numbers on some of the parts. Be sure that the numbers that are alike are on the same side.

The table looks nice in the picture but the pieces don't necessarily fit well together because of buckling - almost as if the wood was either not fully cured or stored properly. I can also feel where he wood was joined on the top - I hope it doesn't separate!!!! Maybe I should have gone with the table I really wanted which was over $500.

The Asian Bench is beautiful! I love the simple lines and rich deep brown stain on the wood - which has really lovely grain. I am actually using my bench as a media stand to hold my 50" projection TV and it looks great. One of the reasons I like this piece is that it is so versatile.

It was a breeze to put together, is very solid and the wood is beautiful. We are very pleased with the table.
