Asante Stool Bench (Ghana)

If you have been looking for an authentic Asante "throne," look no further. This bench looks much better "in person" than on my computer screen. It looks as if it came right out of an historical museum or out from under the king!! I bought this to use as an "altar" for my very small meditation space. It was the perfect choice. It is big enough to hold a candle and my small singing bowl, yet not overpowering in the space. I was very surprised when it came in, because the one I ordered was not decorated the same as this one. When I ordered it, there was a choice of elephants or people. I chose people since that would be more authentic to the culture than elephants. But what I received was much better than I expected. The decoration on this particular Asante is closer to what I have seen in books and museums. It is also a beautiful and simple piece of furniture, though a "throne" of this nature should technically be used only for decoration! I am delighted, once more, with my purchase from Overstock.com.

I bought this to put under the window in my master bathroom. I have a very traditional home; I had my doubts but I ordered it anyway and I love it. My husband thinks it's a bit short but it's a great height for me. The design and color are perfect.

This is a great little bench, very different and nice. It arrived on time, perfectly packed.I need another one! POM
