Story Behind the Art:
Woven by natives of the Himalayan country of Nepal, each piece is hand crafted by talented Nepalese women in their leisure time. Many of these women make their living crafting these beautiful, warm hats. Most of the women come specifically from the town of Bhaktapur. Some tourists have described this part of Nepal as being like Disneyland, but with its own primitive and unique character, a town of living heritage.
The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.

These warmers were a gift to a friend, and I was a little disappointed in their look. They are soft and cozy on the inside, but the cable stitching on the back is loose and oversized. So while I think they are comfortable and practical, I don't think they are very attractive. The embellishment of the cable stitch on the back doesn't make the grade.Read More

Best Skirts for the Office
It is important to find a comfortable skirt to wear to the office that is appropriate yet stylish. Skirts are a staple of any wardrobe; they are also one of the most versatile pieces of clothing and can be worn with sweaters, blouses or jackets. Depending on your office dress code, conservative or casual styles may be appropriate, so choose styles and colors that fit into your existing wardrobe. Wear long skirts for cooler weather. While the most popular women's skirts are hemmed around the knee, cold winter months are a great time to wear longer skirts. Formal long skirts, especially those made of silk or velvet fabric, are probably out of place in the office. Stick to cotton, twill or even wool fabrics for a professional look. Ruffles and pleats can also give long skirts a feminine touch. A-line skirts are the best shape for most women because they create a waistline and widen at the hem, balancing out larger hips. Select flattering skirt sets. To ensure your skirt looks as professional as possible for the office, find a skirt set with an accompanying jacket. You can pair the skirt set with any type blouse, including silk, cotton or polyester. For a clean look, wear a skirt and jacket with a blouse that easily tucks in and does not create a bulge or pull around the skirt waist. You can also pair women's skirts with separate jackets if you want to mix up the wardrobe. Choose a slimming pencil skirt. One of the most common and fashionable skirts to wear is the pencil skirt. It pairs nicely with a variety of blouses, sweaters and jackets, making it a versatile part of the wardrobe. The pencil skirt is flattering to all body types, from very thin to curvaceous women. The skirt's silhouette is straight at the waist and narrows at the knees, allowing it to hug all of the curves of the body. Look for a pencil skirt that has a slit or pleat in the back near the hem to allow for increased movement while walking. Find an appropriate casual skirt. Casual skirts can be professional and dressy enough to wear to work. For the office, look for skirts made of cotton, khaki material, linen or even wool to provide a comfortable option. Keep casual skirts mid-length, allowing them to fall either slightly above or below the knee cap. View All Skirts Back to Guides Directory View All Skirts
What to Pack for Africa's Highest Peak
Imagine that you are planning a trip that will take you from the equator to Antarctica in seven days. Now imagine that you have to limit the amount of gear you pack to 35 pounds or less. The task is getting more complicated. What kind of luggage would you choose and how would you pack for a trip that encompasses such extreme changes in climate and altitude? When Erica Davis, a paraplegic athlete, and Tara Butcher, a physically challenged athlete, climb Africa's highest peak, they will have to answer exactly those questions. The challenge: Mount Kilimanjaro rises from nearly sea level all the way up to 19,330 feet. The trail climbs from the hot bushland through rain forest, moorland, alpine desert and arctic glaciers up to the rocky Uhuru peak. A climb like Mt. Kili presents special challenges when it comes to luggage, clothing and gear. Being prepared for the weather and temperature extremes is a necessity, but it's also important not to pack too much. There is a 35-pound weight limit to each piece of luggage carried by a porter. Most climbers pack one 35-pound capacity bag to go up with a porter and one small daypack to carry up themselves. The daypack: Erica and Tara will have 7 days to summit Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro. As they pass from one ecological zone to the next, their needs will change and so will the contents of their daypacks. Each day Erica and Tara will repack their daypacks in anticipation of the specific challenges of the day's journey. In general, their daypacks will include things like water, snacks, dry clothing, waterproof gear and sunscreen. The importance of keeping clothing and gear dry cannot be overstated. When choosing a daypack, a small to medium backpack made of lightweight, moisture-resistant material that comes with a removable waterproof shell will be ideal. It's also helpful if the backpack has convenient access to a water bottle compartment or can accommodate a water bladder. Plenty of pockets, zipper compartments and hooks are also handy. What to pack: A sturdy but lightweight water-repellant duffel bag with a capacity of about 35 pounds is ideal for the trek to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The bag needs to have room for plenty of layers of breathable, moisture-wicking clothing and layers of fleece clothing, as well as a waterproof layer. To save space, it's a good idea to pack clothing that does double duty, such as pants that easily convert into shorts. Aside from clothing, the climb will also require accessories like sunglasses, hats and gloves, plus equipment like trekking poles and a headlamp, as well as toiletries like sunscreen, insect repellent and a first-aid kit. Support the Challenged Athletes Foundation: Overstock.com and the C.H.E.K Institute are co-sponsoring Erica and Tara's climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in order to raise awareness for athletes with physical challenges who wish to participate and compete in sports. Portions of the proceeds will benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF). CAF raises funds to give physically challenged athletes the opportunity to stay active and competitive in the sports they love. To show your support for physically challenged athletes like Erica and Tara, donate now to the Challenged Athletes Foundation for the Fit 4 Kili Climb. Best Styles of Booties for Evening
Ankle boots, or booties, are a versatile fashion option. They can be worn with a variety of outfits for many different occasions, from a lavish dinner at a four-star restaurant to a company party. Pick out evening-appropriate women's ankle boots that add flair and class to your outfit by following a few simple guidelines. Try embellished booties for a trendy look. Women's booties embellished with chains, big buckles, laces and buttons can work great when paired with a short skirt. The exact embellishment you choose is up to you, but no matter what, these extras will lend an edgy touch to your evening outfit. Match the color of your embellishments with the tone of your jewelry for a truly polished, put-together look. Pair women's ankle boots with tights or wear them bare-legged, depending on the formality of the occasion. While black booties tend to go with anything, you can experiment with different colors of embellished booties to give your look a boost. Booties that are a little slouchy also look great with jeans or a skirt. Leather booties look great for every occasion. Leather booties work well for a classic, chic and monochromatic look. Booties without adornments, such as buckles, bows or chains, can be patent leather (for a dressy look), suede or faux leather. Leather booties can be matte or shiny and often come in lace-up styles as well. This works best when you want your style to be understated but still want to add sophistication to your look. Coordinate your ankle boots with your outfit or pick another color to make your clothes pop. Wear them with a knee-length skirt or paired with a pair of dark jeans. You can also wear them with a tunic and thick leggings for a warmer, comfortable look. Open-toe booties are stylish and fashion-forward. If you really want to try something different, give open-toed booties a try. These will lend the most edge to your look. Pair these with a short skirt in order to make them pop. If it's cold outside, you might want to wear these open-toed booties with a pair of matching tights to stay warm. These ankle boots work well for going out to a club or rock concert, but they can also complement a party dress or a pair of jeans for a dressier event.
