This screen has only the rice paper on the back---there are no wooden pieces to make the back look like the panes on the front panels. The back of this screen looks cheap and unfinished, which is too bad, since the overall workmanship is mostly excellent. Return shipping of this large screen would be a waste of money, so I will probably try to add the vertical and horizontal pieces of wood to finish off the back of the screen. I am very disappointed because this screen if beautiful...from the front, only.

I ordered these screens to seperate a sleeping area from the primary "living area" of my bed and breakfast. The screens are beatiful, and now, 4 years later, they look like new. They are sturdy yet can be moved easily for a flexible room arrangement. They are translucent so they act as a barrier without making the room dark. I love them.

I ordered two sets of these Chinese-made shoji room dividers, and was pleased with how quickly they were delivered, as well as the careful, effective packaging. I unhinged them, and rebuilt the modules into sliding shoji panels, installed in tracks, as done in Japan. My living room has been transformed, and the soft, diffused light created by the translucent, lush paper is indeed beautiful. Having lived in Japan, I cannot say that the craftsmanship of these shoji is as outstanding (utterly perfect) as those seen there, but it's pretty close, and I feel that the price was indeed reasonable. Overall, I am very pleased.

As the other reviewer said, the back doesn't look like the front in that the shoji (paper) doesn't have the wood going across. However, it doesn't look that bad, at least the way I use it, which is to separate my kitchen and living room. I put the nice side facing the living room since that is when I am forced to see it and b/c I don't care much about what the kitchen looks like as long as it's clean. The quality can be a lot better though. The frame is an okay albeit cheap wood, but the smaller pieces that crosses the shoji is cheaper and not smooth to the touch. I have to smooth it out a little in some parts. They're like splinters that easily flake off Also, there a quite a number of nicks and dings on the frame, some of which I can see from 8 feet away. It was packed okay, so it must be bad quality control when it was being made. Good thing I got the black one b/c I can just take a black marker and cover them up. Fortunately, the shoji itself is unblemished. In the end, I am satisfied, but I can only recommend the black one since it's easy to touch up the nicks and dings.

bought the cherry color. it's just as pictured, however the paper screens are thin and one of the squares has a small rip. my husband through out the box so i couldn't send it back. oh well, overalll it's good for the price. i'll replace it one day when i find the perfect piece of furniture i'm really looking for.

The product was very red looking in apperance. It did have some nicks on it too. I wish I had ordered it in black instead.

Beautiful workmanship on screen, lovely room divider, easy to remove from protective box/shipping material.

I bought the divider to add a little privacy to an open space and my patient's love it and the translucent paper allows the sunlight to come through so it does not make the hallway dark. I bought it in natural to go with the office but I would love to get a darker wood for home.

I purchased this to hide my exercise equipment in the living room off my main entry. My house is small, so every square foot is used. When the screen is up, it blends as an accent piece to my room's decor, but it's really hiding the stationary bike, weights, and yoga ball in a corner of the room. When I'm exercising, the screen easily folds down so I have an open view, and back up again when I'm done. This really has solved a problem of being able to use this room as an exercise area by using the screen as a serene and neutral mask.

I got the rosewood and it is pretty. the quality is nive. the only drawback is that is has a smell from the fabric for a few days.

I ordered this for my daughter. She is thrilled with it and it looks great in her room. It is exactly as pictured and the workmanship is great. We are very pleased with it and would order again from this seller.

I bought 2 screens like this from a discount store about 6 years ago (that's why I gave THIS one 1 star for value). The screens held up nicely and look very nice. I have a cherry wood color. The rice paper still looks good (no tears or discolorations) and the screen overall looks more expensive than what I paid for it. I would recommend this screen.

I ordered one of the room dividers in black to use in our lower level as a privacy screen. We liked it so well that we immediately ordered a second one. Great value and good workmanship.

I had only a minor disappointment. The lattice work of the screen is on one side only. Otherwise, the product is excellent and delivery was fast and efficient.
