Story Behind the Art:
Born in a small tribal village in Ghana, West Africa to a family of 12 children, this carver, Akwasi Agyeman, had limited opportunities. The family was so poor that he was limited to only a 7th-grade education in order to help his father on his farm just to feed the family. In the 7th grade, his teacher asked each of them to make something for art class, he produced a fertility doll as his project and his teacher was amazed at his skill, and from that time he had a natural God-gifted talent. After ten years of doing business internationally, and with the help of Overstock.com he's now married with two handsome boys, employs 15 people and has built a small three-bedroom house for his family.
