Story Behind the Art:
Dusadee and her husband Virod have run this family carving business for 6 years. Virod is more of the artistic side interpreting images for wood carving. He is mainly inspired by his Buddhist reflections to carve images in wood. Carvers work while looking at the original on the wall to create the 3D image. In order to not waste wood the nose is a separate piece that is attached by screws on the back side. After drying the separate panels may bend or warp slightly. The bars are removed; edges planed some, and then rejoined. The carving is then chiseled and sanded to blend as well as possible.

The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.

Answer This Question
All woods used are sustainable including the teak wood which is a farmed teak and why it is light in color. No chemical modifiers are used in the drying process, this is the reason they have checking (drying cracks). Only natural plant chemistry oils, certified natural for finishing, are used. The finishes are food safe and child safe surfaces.
