Product Features:
'I am Wayan Rendah. I started to learn to sculpt at the age of eight, learning from my father how to carve traditional statues from wood. Balinese woodcarving touches me very deeply. I have learned a variety of arts in Bali, but carving a piece of wood gives me an incomparable sensation. At first, I sold my statues to the sellers in the art market and at small shops. After I finished school, I studied with Wayan Purna so as to have a stronger foundation to build upon, because I wanted to be able to create the ideas I had in my head. But to do this I needed more experience. As time went by, I was able to bring out my ideas by selecting different types of wood and concentrating on the themes that could satisfy my creative desires. Exploring the abstract world refreshes my mind in creating new carvings.'

Purchased this because I have decided to support Novica the best way I can monthly. I must say it is a very nice piece. the wood is a lighter one and having the artist sign the piece and include the thank you card and story means so much.It is not a large piece but that doesn't matter.Thanks Overstock.

Beautiful Art
I bought this for my parents for Christmas - the "Heart Bond" is symbolic because they've been married for 57 years - quite a feat these days. The quality and beauty is unbelievable! What I love most is the simplicity of it. Less is more, and this statuette says it all. I would definently recommend this beautiful piece of art to everyone. I can't wait for them to open it Christmas morning!!

Lovely Wedding Gift
I bought this for a friend's wedding and they loved it. The wood it's carved from is incredibly light so if you're posting this onward it shouldn't cost as much as you think. It's small though, maybe about 8 inches in height. That said, it's a gorgeous item.
