Story Behind the Art:
'I started to learn to sculpt at the age of eight when I was still in primary school, learning from my father how to carve traditional statues from wood. At first, I sold my statues to the sellers in the art market and at small shops. As time went by, I was able to bring out my ideas by selecting different types of wood and concentrating on the themes that could satisfy my creative desires. Exploring the abstract world refreshes my mind in creating new carvings.'

Interesting piece
Received this product quickly...it is definitely a conversation piece. The features on mine were a little more pronounced such as the chin and the chest, but overall matches the picture and looks great in my living room. I have other similar wooden pieces (thru overstock worldstock also) such as this grouped together and the look is cohesive and unique. I frequently look out for new pieces to add as well.

Beautiful
Love it. My only complaint is that I put it on a white surface and there are some marks on it, the color of the wood stain. The piece itself is unique and gorgeous!

This was a gift:
I bought this as a gift for my brother. I never saw it in person, but my Mom did. The first one was destroyed in transit. This may not be anyone's fault but the driver of the truck. Anything that gets slammed around or ran over is going to break, especially when it is wood and as fragile as this piece. Overstock was wonderful and got me a replacement out as soon as they could. Since it was shipped from out of the country, and had to go through customs, it took a while, but the replacement arrived in one piece. My brother loved it and so it all worked out in the end.
