Story Behind the Art:
Anita Altamirano was born in Ambato, Ecuador. She owns a factory where several native Ecuadorians from a tribe called 'Salaca' handcraft and hand-weave each individual piece. The 12,000 Salasaca people live in the center of the Andes in Ecuador and speak Kichwa. The Salasacas work principally in agriculture and indigenous art, which they learn at a very young age. One identifiable cultural characteristic of the Salasacas is their leather work and tapestries with hand-woven designs and motifs.
What is Worldstock?
The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.
