Story Behind the Art:
Sangeeta was struggling to raise her daughter on her own while her husband worked as a truck driver. His long routes kept him away from home most nights and he wasn't making enough for them to live on. Sangeeta's cousin told her about a fair trade women's beading cooperative near New Delhi. She encouraged her to supplement her family's income by learning how to bead. Sangeeta went through their training program and is now able to work at home while taking care of her daughter. Soon her daughter will attend school sponsored by the cooperative and Sangeeta is very proud to give her daughter the educational opportunities she herself did not have.
