Story Behind the Art:
Wayan Murdi who works primarily with rain tree wood (suar wood). He began carving on his own in 1985. All across Indonesia, familly skills are often transmitted, from father to son and he always wanted to follow the path of his own father. He hopes his two sons will also appreciate the art so the legacy can continue. He worked with his father until he had enough money to open his own workshop. There are 15 people working with him from his village of Mas. Asian culture inspire his artwork.
