'Hi, My name is Marco Polo Serrano. I was born in a small artisan town surrounded by handicrafts, as most of my family are artisans. By the age of 13 I had a job in a workshop that made artistic ironwork, and in this way I helped pay for my schooling. When I was 18, I quit working to concentrate on my studies. I got married, and my wife is also from a family of artisans. When I was 23, she and I decided to open our own workshop with a different design concept, utilizing a metal cutter known as a plasma. I began to work with it, cutting perforated silhouettes from sheet metal. The shapes are cut freehand, and we give them form and texture with a hammer and other tools that I've made myself to create capricious designs. I apply an oxidized finish and protect each piece with a coat of lacquer.

Fun and funky
Just as cute as the picture. Mine has a shiny rust and brown finish. Ignore the reviewer who says it is "without any white air brushing on it like in the picture." That is not airbrushing - it is cuts in the metal. The color of whatever is behind the gecko shows through.

Fantastic Workmanship!
We have purchased several geckos for our patio and this one is by far the best. The appearance and workmanship are incredible. We would highly reccomend this artist to anyone interested in purchasing quality items.

Perfect gift
I purchased the iron gecko as a birthday gift for an avid gardener who is also a peace and justice advocate. It hangs above her potted plants on her patio and looks lovely. Because this is a world trade item, I scored on several levels. She received a "beautiful" and useful gift. The purchase supports her work as an advocate, and it was affordable!
