It closes with a sturdy silver lobster clasp and it measures 18 inches long.

Amethyst, or purple quartz, has been used by many cultures throughout history to make jewelry as well as other decorative and functional items. The stone has been associated with royalty in both Britain and Egypt, while in Tibet it is considered a sacred Buddha stone.
