Story Behind the Art:
This clothing from India is organized by families who have worked together for many years. They organize small tailoring groups where the tailors are paid by piece for their work. No factory or child labor is ever used. Workers are paid higher than average wages and are free to move on at any point. Typically there are waiting lists to become a tailor with their artisan groups. Most of the families supported by this fair trade initiative have gone from having no running water to purchasing land, motorized vehicles and sending their children to college.
The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.

yet another wrap skirt...I bought several because of the style, colors, ease of use and how many ways you can dress with it....colors, and more colors...so matching a top is too easy...Read More
I didn't care much for the color combination. The colors I like are the ones that get covered up when it's on. One of the fabric strips results in a broad horizontal line across the hips. One of the strips is cut on the bias and is kind of saggy and baggy. I realize the color and fabric combinations are random and you can't choose, and I could exchange it. But it's practically Christmas, I'm swamped with other work, and I've lost the original shipping materials. So I'll keep it. The double layer of silk (for layers on the overlap) is nice and warm here in Minnesota. Hope it will be equally cool in summer and maybe it will look better with summer tops and shoes.Read More
Excellent quality. Great cut. But, the colors were nothing like the picture and way too clashing for me. This is too bohemian for my style, but I can think of people who would love it. Too full of gold clashing with light blue and purples.Read More
I love a wrap skirt and this was an excellent buy.... I've been on a weight loss challenge and this number has transitioned me through a 40 pound loss and still looks good... It's silk so I've been able to wear it from the fall and I intend to wear it through the spring ... the versatility in colors allow me to pick up any color to accent depending on the season - and I can flip it over and wear it twice in one week if I desore....great buy.Read More
i decided to have it shortened a bit...so now i have a scarf as well as a skirt. i love them both.Read More
I love this skirt. Because it reversible, it is so versatile. It can be dressed up or down...and even if you go through size changes, this skirt will fit you.Read More
I always get compliments on this skirt. I love the look, the feel, the materials, and the story behind it.Read More
This skirt is really beautiful. Photo does not do it justice AT ALL. It is a wrap around, which I don't often like, as they blow open, but this one wraps around enough that this does not happen. It is reversible. The other side is mainly shades of blue. What you can't see in the photo is the element of shine to this skirt. Good deal for the money.Read More
I love this skirt. Because the patchwork designs and colors are different on each side you can wear a multitude of different colored tops and they would all match. The silk is soft and the sewing is excellent. This skirt looks good with casual sandals, dress boots or high heels! Much prettier "in person".Read More
beautiful skirt, lovely fabric. nice length - hitting the calf, reversible is quite versatile.Read More
Questions & Answers
Popular Types of Quilts
Out of all the bedding made, quilts may be the most diverse. Quilts are produced in all kinds of colors, patterns, sizes, styles and types. If you're looking for a quilt but don't know where to start, take a look at the popular types of quilts below to learn more about this beautiful kind of bedding. Amish quilts: These beautiful quilts reflect the Amish way of living and feature solid colors, deep hues, geometric patterns and very little embellishment. Amish quilts contain the highest quality of construction and stitching, and, sometimes, the wonderful stitch patterns (scrolls, feathers) contrast with the simple backgrounds of their quilts. Applique quilts: These quilts use a French needlework technique where fabric pieces are sewn onto another piece of material to create a design. Applique is used extensively in the quilting process and is not to be confused with patchwork. Patchwork pieces are joined together; applique is sewn on top of the whole piece. Baltimore album quilts: Baltimore album quilts came from Maryland in the early 1800s. Each block in the design of these quilts is appliqued differently, often in ornate floral patterns. Bangladeshi quilts: These quilts are made with layers of Saree cloth. Saree cloth is silk cloth used by women of India to wrap and fold around the body as a garment. The cloth is usually 40 to 60 inches wide by 6 yards long. These quilts are used as bedding or as decorative pieces. Bargello quilts: Bargello quilts are created with offset squares in an up-and-down geometric "V" pattern. The small squares of different fabrics and the colorful designs make these quilts true works of art. Hawaiian quilts: Hawaiian quilts are not pieced, and they usually showcase a large, symmetrical applique in the center of the quilt. Most often the background is white or another solid color. Patchwork quilts: Patchwork quilts are constructed of many small pieces of fabric which are put together in an improvised or irregular pattern. This is a well-known quilt style, and examples of historical patchwork quilts are found in many museums. Ralli quilts: Ralli quilts, sometimes known as rilli quilts, are traditional quilts made in India or Pakistan. There is an abundance of embroidery as well as applique on the patchwork patterns. Star quilts: Star quilts are created with a large star shape, or several star shapes, dominating the pattern. Wedding ring quilts: Wedding ring quilts are crafted in a design of interlocking rings. This pattern goes far back in history: in the fourth century it was used to decorate drinking cups in Rome. Wedding ring quilts are highly popular and make wonderful wedding gifts. If you're looking for a gift to please an engaged couple, you can't go wrong with a wedding quilt. Bedding always makes a significant gift for the bride and groom, and a quilt with coordinating Egyptian cotton sheets can be even better. View All Quilts Back to Guides Directory View All Quilts
