Djembe drums were the primary communication tool of ancient West Africa. Before the invention of the telephone and the radio the drum served a vital role in the development of Africans. Kings and chiefs could assemble their people in a matter of minutes with the beat of the drum. Djembe drums continue to be used today for entertainment and during music festivals.
The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.

Rhythms within the Home
My son loves playing the drums. He plays at church and when he volunteers at a children¿s hospital. Though he has a full set of drums, he likes the freedom this one drum allows. It's fun and he can pick it up at a moment¿s notice. The quality is great; it is a nice drum and was a great gift. Shhhh, do you hear that distant sound¿¿

wonderful, authentic djembe
An excellent instrument! I use it with my Preschool class and the love the sound of this djembe! At first when I opened the box and found writing on the drum head, I was taken aback, but then I realized it gave the drum authenticity! The drum is from Ghana, and it made the drum even more special!!! If you are looking for an instrument such as this ... you will be pleased with your purchase, and what a great price!!!!

Great Drum
Beautiful deep tone. Easy to hold while drumming. Strap fits over shoulder for easy drumming. Sounds better if not flat on the ground. A nice drum.
- Did the color match the color displayed onsite? Wood stain is black not brown with a red band holding the top in place.
- How is the quality of the product? Well made.
- Did the product fit true to size? Taller and narrower than the picture...10'' in height, 8" diameter top, 6" diameter base.
