Story Behind the Art: Sta Dominica Convent
This cloister of Carmelite nuns has been designing and manufacturing women's fashion accessories for more than forty years. Their lines have grown to include distinctive jewelry, handbags and shoes. Twenty-two nuns are involved. The sisters take pride in using only natural materials, especially those found in and around their native island of Mindanao, Philippines. Proceeds are used to support a medical clinic for women and abandoned children, and a group of ten preschools around the island.

The necklace is a beautiful piece of art. The matching earrings are beautiful as well; however, I have not worn the earrings yet for fear of them falling off. The quality of the earring post and ability to secure the earring on leaves much to be desired. I would recommend using a different, more secure backing than the one that comes with the earrings. Overall, I would recommend this product; it is a beautiful set. I have gotten many compliments each time I have worn the necklace.

More beautiful in person!
I was so surprised and very happy when I received this set. The necklace is just gorgeous and the craftsmanship is outstanding. I do agree with an earlier post regarding the earrings. The ability and method of securing the posts to the earrings needs to be done differently, and in a more secure manner. I am more than happy with this purchase and would be even if the earrings were not part of the set. Do not buy if you don't like getting noticed!

I don't write reviews very much, but this is piece is incredible. Got the set for Valentines and it's amazing. First thing is the elegance - the different shells are gorgeous and the mahogany, I think it is, looks very refined. It's mounted on a resin disc backing and seems like fine quality. They don't show it, but the strand has a slip knot, which simplifies adjusting, taking on and off. I can wear it lots of ways. Love it.
