Story Behind the Art:
Shea Yeleen International is a social enterprise founded by a Returned Peace Corps volunteer who served in Mali, West Africa. All the natural skincare products are made with 100% natural unrefined shea butter sourced directly from women in Ghana, Mali, and Burkina Faso. The shea butter producers use a tradition passed down from mother to daughter to hand extract shea butter contained in the seed of the shea fruit. Sourcing shea butter directly from women's cooperatives in West Africa provides women with a living wage for the first time. Each Shea Yeleen product sold invests in training, resource development, and increased income for the shea producers.
