Before my purchase, I shopped on the net and found the value comparable to other places. I bought on a special shipping fee day, so I saved money with the shipping. At first, I considered them average, but after burning my first candle in them, the translucence was awesome. They all had their distinct pattern of color and direction. Very beautiful!!!

These votives are just beautiful. They cast a warm amber light that makes the room just cozy. I have them on my mantle above my fireplace and with the both of them on it makes the room warm and inviting.

I purchased one of the Alabaster lamps featured on Overstock, and was so taken with it that I decided to try the candle holders. I recommend these, but.... My problem is that two of the four of these "Ramses" votives were of one size/quality, and the other two were of different size and quality. Two were larger, more polished, and featured matrix and variation that created a beautiful glow once lit by a tealight. The two smaller ones seem to have been made from an entirely different piece of alabaster -mostly a pale yellow, not as polished, and without any real matrix- also with a smaller, shorter “base”at the bottom. Perhaps the lesser quality and smaller ones were made by a different craftsman altogether. Two of the four, however, are of the overall quality depicted in the photos. They are extremely beautiful when lit. I don't regret purchasing these (and am enjoying all 4 candle holders) but I do think Overstock needs to exert greater quality control regarding items made and sent from far-away countries. These did survive the journey and were well packed .( It was actually kind of fun to see they were wrapped with Middle Eastern newspaper! ) Overstock, by the way, never falters in its great customer support. It’s not as hard to ‘try’ something, knowing they’ll take care of you if there’s a problem.
