Story Behind the Art
All our oriental alabaster products are made by the same workshop for the past 12 years. Our artisan is Mr. Mahmoud Abdel Nabi, who was born in the Egyptian countryside, but who moved to Cairo and grew up there from an early age. Mr. Abdel Nabi has worked in the field of marble, alabaster and stone for most of his adult life.
Oriental alabaster is a translucent marble found only in Egypt. It is thought the ancient city of Alabastros, gave alabaster is moniker. The ancient Pharaohs utilized this marble in many aspects of their daily lives and religious ceremonies. Its use in Egypt has been carried down to the present day. Of course, giving work to people is called 'opening homes' here in Egypt. To be able to help people by giving them work, is not only a responsibility, but a pleasure.
What is Worldstock?

These are just beautiful, and make a wonderful gift for yourself or anyone else! The glow when using tealights is just so warm and comforting.

These are a great addition to any room. They ARE natural alabaster, so be forewarned that they may not all look the same.

Bad Batch
One of the candles looked like the picture on the website, which was good. But the other two were much darker (more of a gray than an orange or peach). Also, instead of nice lines throughout the stone, they had very large sections of solid gray stone where the light can't really shine through. So, basically, one good candle and two mediocre candles that would better be used as expensive paper weights.
