Story Behind the Art:
As an artist, Rita Addo Zakour proudly includes African themes into her designs. 'Having the edge of doing more designs inspires me, and I have taught this art to a number of people. The basic materials I use are sese wood and aluminum sheets. My favorite things in life are cooking and being with my family. I dream that we'll one day have enough so I can also give back to others.'

  • So is this mask a hand carved "African" mask or was it created by an artist (Rita Addo Zakour) to mimic a mask made in African by an African artisan? I love the look of it but I'm particular about what I buy and I try to only buy authentic African art. What I read above is that Ms Zakour includes African themes in her designs but it doesn't say if she is African. What's the deal?

    • Hello Mwagbe, the amazing mask is hand carved. Thank you for shopping with us.

  • Is this mask made to hang on the wall? What does the back of the mask look like? Is it solid or craved out?

    • Hello ritef25, thank you for your inquiry. Yes, mask has a loop on the back for hanging on a wall. The back of the mask is carved out and painted black or dark brown. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
