India has the largest handicraft workforce in the world. It's 1.1 billlion people, 26 states, 18 languages, and 1500 dialects has an extremely large range of handicrafts from each of the states, employing 9 to 10 million artisans who live below the poverty line in the country's most remote areas. There are a number of craft organizations that help women artisans and the most underprivileged artisans in rural areas. Artisan communities are always looking for markets to give them enough sales volume to lift themselves out of poverty.
