Story Behind the Art:
Nyoman Mahayani grew up following his father's craft of a renowned stone carver. He now helps a good portion of his village near Bangli on the island of Bali. Being able to earn a good, stable salary and working locally without having to travel long distance for work in the city is much appreciated for him and his workers. It also permits him to invest more time around his family of three children.

Love it!
I was skeptical because of some of the not so favorable reviews. Then I realized that some people forget that this is a statue meant for outside and the stone materials reflect such. I believe it is beautiful! It looks EXACTLY like the picture. It is a slender murti (statue) so if you desire are more round Ganesh/Ganapati then you may want to look elsewhere. I love the way the stone feels and this piece gets compliments when people see it.

Definitely for the outdoors
It has a medium grey color which makes it far more appealing outdoors. The item does not have a very deep base, so it has a flimsy feel that a gusty wind might topple it over, so he stays close to the outdoors in our place, close to the wall.....

Misrepresented
This piece is not suitable for outdoor use. The interior and bottom of it is wood and could not withstand water in a garden setting. I retuned it. Plus, it is just plain ugly when you see it in person - and I have always liked Ganesh statues! - but not this one.

Truly immaculate, no pun intended
This statue is great. I'm almost afraid to leave it in the yard because if the wind blows it over, I don't want it to break (we've been having storm in NYC lately) so I have it in the home. It doesn't have dust nor does it crumble. It's very, very detailed and has a warmth around it. More than worth the price paid for it.
