Story Behind the Art:
Caribbean Craft promotes employment in Haiti by training unskilled but often highly gifted craftspeople, and by assisting the independent artisans through the introduction of new designs and new market outlets. Unemployment in Haiti, the poorest country of the American hemisphere, is variously estimated at between 60 and 80-percent. The organization has gone through rough times during the past years, marked by political troubles and economic difficulties including a three year long embargo on all Haitian exports. Caribbean Craft currently employs 400 artisans either as salaried employees or outside contractors, with roughly equal numbers of men and women. The natural artistic talents of the Haitians are well known, and many of these hand-painted pieces are truly works of art.

Cute little wall decoration
This is a small metal decoration that I gifted to my small daughter. She loved the colors, even taking it to her school for show and tell. It's very vibrant.

The craftsmanship is excellent. The colors are vibrant and you can tell it was painted with whimsy which is the very reason i bought the piece. It was nice to receive a picture of the artist. That was a nice touch. Oh yes, I hung my gecko next to some of my Talavera tile. A really nice marriage of the art pieces. My hat goes off to the gifted artist.

Cute
Much smaller than expected even with plotting the measurements on the wall. It just doesn't fill the space as expected. Still I love the colors and the whimsy. I bought another Gecko and a frog to fill the space. Buy and enjoy, just be aware it takes multiples to fill wall space.
