Story Behind the Art:
This piece is handmade in Thailand of recycled wood, salvaged from old torn down houses, boats, schools and buildings. Each frame and accent item is one of a kind and in effect, an artifact due to the process of its creation. We are proud that these frames and other decor pieces are used to capture the memories, art, and the essence of life whilst being entirely eco-friendly. The organization that produces these pieces promotes sustainability and fair trade by purchasing wood pieces from local woodworkers who set out to collect wood from torn down building sites including some old Tsunami wreckages. They then employ local artisans to make the items using their original craft and manufacturing methods in Thailand.
What is Worldstock?
The handcrafted touch of artisan skill will create variations in color, size and design. Color differences may occur between the actual product and your computer screen. If buying two of the same item, slight differences will occur from piece to piece.
Despite cosmetic differences, the functional design and structure of the pieces are the same.

Wasn't quite as weathered looking as I expected
I was expecting the boatwood to be more weathered looking, but instead the wood blocks were uniform, solid painted pieces....too "pastel" looking in color for what I wanted. I just "roughed" it up a bit and made it look more rustic and weathered with my wood burner tool. It was fun and now I love this mirror!

World Beat and Environmentally Friendly
Love the reclaimed wood idea from the start. Each piece has a small carpenter nail for attachment. The colours are true to the boats I saw on the canals in Bangkok: soft but saturated turquoises and yellows and natural beige/browns.
