Story Behind the Art:
Some of the favorite recycled jewelry items are the 'Dancing Girl' pins and earrings, made of recycled phone cards by craftspeople in Kisumu, Kenya and finished by TEMAK. The sign for the Teenage Mothers Association of Kenya (TEMAK) indicates that it is 'the last house towards the Obunga slums, the most destitute area of Kisumu. Many of the unwed mothers and young girls who come to TEMAK to learn job skills live in these slums. As a community center, the organization also provides the community with an educational forum for HIV/AIDS awareness and other health issues.

Cute, but ,,,
I like to wear quirky earrings because they make folks smile and sometimes start a conversation. These fit the bill in every way but if you have long hair or wear a high collar they have rough spots that will stick to them. So while they are fun they are not well made and for the price won't last long I fear. I still like them but can't recomend them. I still like to support 3rd world countries so will keep shopping world stock.

fun, fun, fun!
I love buying art and jewelry that directly benefits the artisan. These uniquely fun and environmentally friendly earrings really fit my need when I recently went searching for inexpensive gifts for my sister and niece. I loved them so much I ordered a third pair for myself, They arrived with a little note about the artisan group they benefit and the recycled resources they use to make their jewelry. Each pair is well matched but differerent enough from the others that you could buy and wear a different matching pair depending on what you wearing or how you are feeling. They are light weight and I have had several copliments on how "fun" they are "dancing" from my ears!

The Spirit of Africa emerge out of a gift purchased for a friend for Christmas. This friend loves unique gifts. These Recycled 'African Spirit' Earrings from Africa., were the talk of the town. Being made from recycled resources, tiny colored beads, by hand, and for who it helps out, this made this gift all that much more in giving. The whimsical style of the head , body, and colors were unique on each earring having a style of its own. The friend wore the earring to the hair dressers and lots of compliments begin to fly. The Spirit of Africa had arrived and the story behind the earrings make the very special and unique. The con about these earring are They are delicate and special so you have to careful with them.

Saw these dancing girls and had to have them! Gave a pair to my sister too and she loved them! They are beautifully made, light and comfortable to wear. And so inspiring!

Even though the color wasn't what I was expecting, I am still crazy about these earrings. So fun! I get compliments on them all the time.
