Kashan is an ancient oasis city lying in a desert at the eastern foot of the Central Iranian Range. This rug shows the weaving traditions of Kashan that date centuries back. Today the economy of Kashan is based upon the production of some of the finest carpets in Iran. Kashan rugs are the most conservative of all Persian rugs. They are not nearly as adventurous as Qum or as fine as Isfahan rugs, and you can find them from the high-end ultra fine examples to the Bazaar quality.

This rug exceeded my expectations. It is very elegant and is well crafted.

artistic rug
This is a high quality rug on every count. The craftsmanship and artistry of the rug is outstanding. The rug is approx. 200 knots per square inch and so the detail of the design is very resolute. My only complaint is that I wish Overstock would provide the knots per square inch count on the website so that customers don't have to bother customer service each time they consider buying a hand-knotted rug. Other than that I'm extremely pleased.
