Story Behind the Art:
Long before the Spanish arrived in the Yucatan Peninsula, the Maya preferred to sleep and rest in hammocks. They considered the hammock to be like the loving embrace of a mother, due to the comfortable manner in which the body is held and swung within its cradle. Maya Artists of the Yucatan hand-weave stylized versions of the original Maya hammock. For them, the hammock is a work of art. Their hammocks are incredibly comfortable, easy to maintain, and may be stored just about anywhere.

Great swing
This is the second one of these we purchased. The last one was one of the beige ones, and we left it out year round for two years (including through 2 winters), so it began to fray at the top, and for safety's sake, we decided to throw it out. Had we taken it in during the winter, I'm sure it would have lasted longer. The kids love it and spend hours in it every year. I was so happy to see the black version because I'm hopeful it won't show the dirt as much as the beige one does. Great, great swing. Beautifully made and comfy.

Hammock Swing
I had a rope one already and saw this and bought it for another family member. What's really nice about it is that is dries quickly after a rain. It is lightweight, yet sturdy and comfortable.
