The Ndebele tribe is one of the smallest and most colorful in South Africa. Living in the Gauteng province, the initiation doll is a traditional part of their culture. This doll was handcrafted by a collective of tribal women. Purchase of this doll helps these women and their families lead better lives by putting their children through school and improve their living conditions. The doll is imported directly from these women, using fair-trade methods, to assure that they receive the full value of their labor.
