    Story Behind the Art:
    'My name is Siriporn Jeerang, but I go by Toy, born in 1968 in Ban Tung, a quiet village located in Man Wen district. With nine brothers and sisters and my parents were poor farmers, there were many things we could not afford. One of them was school, so I only studied up to grade 6. After school I did many things, before getting a job in a shop located in a large tourist village close by. Later married my husband, he used to be a skilled wood carver. He would carve a couple of months an intricate and large teakwood piece, and then would sell it very inexpensively to some buyer. It was an impossible way to earn a living, sometimes waiting for months before getting an income. One day it occurred to us that we could use our skills for ourselves. We took the chance and setup a little workshop at home in 2003. It worked wonderful this way, and still does. We were able to gradually employ some of our friends in the village, about 9 people, and moved the workshop 50 meters away from home. The way we work is very simple, family and community style.'

    • Makes a nice coffee table!!

      I am very happy with this bench. I am using it as a coffee table; it is the perfect size and goes well in the room. Although you can not see the back side, it is finished enough that it doesn't need to be against a wall. And the top is sturdy enough to handle heavy items. My only complaint, but it is minor, is that the dark stain on the piece is still wet and rubs off easily. Fortunately I noticed this before I put it on our new rug and have rubbed it down several times with a clean cloth and it seems to be ok now. It really is a lovely, well-made piece of furniture.

    • Nice Bench

      First time using overstock and had a pleasant experience. The bench came in 3 business days, which was quicker than expected. The bench itself is very nice. As one of the posters had mention, the backing is finished enough to be used as a coffe table. For the price, the bench is worth the purchase.

    • Just What We Needed!

      This bench sits at the foot of our queen-sized bed, and it fits just right! It provides a sturdy seat, extra storage (I fit four stacks of sweaters and tops inside), and adds a nice texture to the decor. This bench would blend in a decorating style that is tropical, eclectic, or even traditional. We bought the Tribeca bed on Overstock, too, and they go nicely together. I wiped it down and aired it out before placing it, as others have suggested.

    • Beautiful and Sturdy Enough

      This is an exceptional value - nice looking and not very pricey either. Overstock delivery was also very quick. As mentioned, the top may look flimsy but it can support a lot of weight - even two kids who keep jumping up and down on it.

    • Bench is OK

      This piece is only OK in my opinion. . The picture makes it appear a little bulkier and cleaner looking than it actually is. Also the picture shows the item to be stained brown when actually it is ebony (almost black) in color. I am not using this piece of furniture where I intended but have put in in my hallway, and actually it looks pretty good there. Overall I'm OK with the piece.

    • Mango Wood and Reed Bench

      I wanted a low storage piece to place my old TV on that was level with seating (this is not a flat screen and quite deep and it sits perfectly on this piece of furniture, does not intrude and holds tons of storage underneath and the TV controls, and antenna on top. Nice piece of interest to the room with warmth in color, and nice texture. The finish had an aroma when first opening the box it came in.... but that seems to have gone away. Very pleased with this

    • Unique bench

      This is a beautiful little bench and is very unique looking. It is certainly a centerpiece for a room. The reason I only gave it 4 stars however instead of 5 is because (although I did look at the measurements) it seemed a lot smaller than what I thought it would be. The other issue is stability. I would never attempt to stand or even have a large person attempt to sit on this bench. The structure just does not seem that stable.

    • Mango wood bench

      I was disappointed on the size ,measured the overall and didn't take in consideration that the rolled edges were encluded in the overall. measurement. Cheap looking.. I was going to put in our master, but put it in the kids room. Too much of a hassel to return it.

    • Unique

      First bench arrived with a damaged foot. Overstock wanted to send me a replacement leg until I explained that the construciton of the piece is such that you would need to be a weekend carpenter to do that repair. Replacement bench was good. Product arrives almost "sticky" like and smelly with the excess stain that has been talked about in other reviews. Corals our shoes nicely by the back door. I'm not sure I would have purchased this if I had seen it first in a store but overall satisfied with the product.
