Story Behind the Art:
Mango wood is indigenous to Northern Thailand, where Mr. Suwichack Ampanan and a small group of fellow artisans have been perfecting the craft of mango wood. Mr. Ampanan first learned the trade of mango wood about 15 years ago from his father and now oversees a small group of five artisans. By employing other local artisans, Mr. Ampanan has allowed them to enjoy a better standard of living. All mango wood products from Mr. Ampanan's workshop are environmentally responsible. When the mango tree can no longer bear fruit after about 25-30 years, he and his artisans use these trees as a means of expressing their creative talents. He hopes you enjoy using his products as much as he enjoys making them. We ensure that the artisans are paid fairly and work in safe conditions. The purchase of this product will help artisans provide food and shelter to their communities as well as generate money to put their children through school.
What is Worldstock?
The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.
