Saifon transforms smooth mango wood into an elegant vase. This tall and graceful decorative accessory showcases the natural grain of the classic Thai material.
Product Features:
Story Behind the Art:
Saifon selects the wood and lets the logs rest under heaps of wood shavings. She removes the bark and slightly roughens the log, then lathes it to the desired shape. Then the piece is placed in a kiln and fired for three days. It becomes encrusted with a thick layer of smoke, dirt, and impurities and must be polished several times with sandpaper. When the piece is smooth enough, she carves and decorates it. The final step is painting. Depending on the finishing style and the natural wood hue, a piece can take as long as six days to finish. It is lacquered several times and let dry for two days. It is then polished and finished with a final coat of lacquer.

The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.

Mango wood vase
WOW! I received this really quickly. It was packaged to survive about anything...took awhile to unwrap, but that is good :-) It is absolutely beautiful! My husband was really impressed with the workmanship. The color is fantastic. Goes well in my new room with the new bamboo floor. I would highly recommend to others. Would buy again from this artist.

I wait to long for this item, I didn't know it's coming from Thailand... long way. So it's very smal item, I thought it's bigger, but it's nice.
