At first glance you think this is just fabric and than you take a closer look and you see the fibers and how nicely this work was done. I absolutely loved these placemats. The store who sent is very professional and receiving a thank you note from Indonesia was a must. Great customer service, great product. Tks.

Despite the product coming from Indonesia, it arrived very quickly. Yes, they do smell, kind of like a bark, very earthy smell, but I kind of like it. It goes away within 3-4 days and I didn't even have to air them out outdoors. The smell wasn't really intense either, I would occassionally get a wiff of them as I walked by. The colors are very nice and the craftsmanship is very good. I failed to look at the dimensions so they turned out to be too big for my table (it's rectangular and seats four people, but I don't know the dimensions either). They still look nice on the table and I'm keeping them.

These are pretty and practical and I kind of like that earthy smell... hope it isn't insecticide...

As the other reviews mentioned, the mats have a strong smell, but I like them. I didn't buy them to put on my table but for wall decorations, and they look great. Very earthy looking.

Very pleased with these placemats, they look great. However, they do have an intense smell. I had to air them out over night and spray Febreeze on them. They also took 2 weeks to ship, which was a disappointment. Other than that, I enjoy them!

I just received these and when I opened them up, I thought they had a nice earthy smell. After 1/2 hour, they are in a plastic bag in the garage. I am planning on putting them out in the sun and air hoping the fragrence dissapates a bit. They just arrived after being packed for several days. The other reviews said they had a smell. I hope it is one that dissipates with time. If not, I am not sure I will be able to use them. Overall, they look great and the workman ship is fine.My ratings are under the assumption that they will become less fragrent.

I purchased these to go with a dark wood table accented with light natural fibers. This works in perfectly because it is dark with light stitching that looks like gold. The placemats are very fragrant, but in a good way. They smell like nature and the outdoors. They do give off a fair amount of dust so I find that I am cleaning my table more often than I have had to in the past. I dont mind though because they fit in so well with my decor! Great purchase!!

These are very attractive, they do have a strong fragrance, great for patio use.I ordered a second set.

I bought these mats because they looked very nice in the photo, and they have an aromatic smell like a previous comment stated. The only thing I don't like is that they flake and leave dust on the dining table. Other than having to clean around them everyday...I think it is a very nice placemat that fits my color scheme.

smells so good! hard to discribe, aromatic, floral, maybe a little musky. the weave is finer than i expected, nicer than i expected. i would buy them again.
