Isle Applegryn started making candles in her home in Bredasdorp in 1994 with the skill, equipment and inspiration left to her by her Aunt Jo. The candles were in high demand by the local gift stores, so she hired four local women to help make them. Today they are shipped to all parts of the world. She called her company Kapula Candles, after saying, 'I am making a couple of candles'. As the company grew, she moved into an old barn that was renovated into the candle factory and she hired more local women. The skill involved in decorating the candles is highly specialized and the painters are trained for over three months to perfect their skills. Today they employ over 200 local workers. There are many variations to each pattern, so you will receive a variation of the pattern shown in the picture.
What is Worldstock?
The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.

Striking candles
I love these candles. They are modestly but attractively packaged, and look just as I expected from the photos. It's a bit of a challenge to find the right candlesticks; the candles are so attention-grabbing that they need a very simple display platform.These and all the Kapula candles I ordered are gorgeous. I wanted to order more but they were sold out!
