    This handmade lamp is made out of all natural materials from the region of the Yucatan peninsula. Made from the jicara fruit, this hanging lamp features seeds, shells and has numerous marbles and glass to make a beautiful addition to any decor.

    This fixture does need to be hard wired. Professional installation is recommended.

    Story Behind the Art:
    The lamps are made locally by Mayan artisans trained by the founders of Jellyfish. It takes four years of training to become a master crafter and be able to make incrustations of stained glass. They start from the bottom, by making the hanging parts. They drill the seeds and the shells and make the strings that hang from the bottom, from there they see in which area they want to specialize, and have more aptitude for. They can be a master crafter and drill and make glass incrustations, specialize in finishing, or be a designer. There is one workshop in Playa del Carmen, and three more in the nearby Mayan villages. Jellyfish helps young gifted Mexicans find and develop a career and learn an art that can help then achieve their dreams and be passed on to their children.
