I just received this piece and would have to totally agree with the prior customer posting that it's just wonderful overall. The workmanship is of good quality, the hand-painted scenes are definitely that... they are not stencils or overlays. The hardware is also of nice quality. And yes, there IS a glass top to protect the artwork on the top (this should have been noted in the product description!) And the way this was packaged and padded (box within a box), it probably would have survived a drop from a plane and still have been in perfect condition! I highly recommend this piece.

This chest arrived with the best packaging ever, therefore the condition was perfect. The workmanship is just beautiful. There was even a glass top to protect the top of the chest. If I had to say something negative, it would be the red lacquer description was deeper and browner more of an oxblood, but still beautiful. It is a welcome and artistic addition to our home.

This is a really beautiful little side table. I have a lamp on it and it looks wonderful. it comes with a glass top and the bottom drawer is lined with felt. Very nice!

I have bought several of the Japenese pieces. They are small but beautiful. The artwork is beautiful.

I purchased this cabinet to serve as both end table and storage of cd's. It's perfect for the small space where it is being used. It is rich-looking and well-made. The felt-lined drawer and the glass top that comes with it are nifty features. The packaging was really secure, protecting the piece perfectly. I'm pleased with this item, and would order again!

Loved the product---arrived intact even with a glass piece for the top. Color is actually oxblood---bought another piece on line---same color and design---only round. gold workmanship lovely. CL---Maine

I purchased this cabinet in red but the color is darker like a deep burgundy. It comes together in one piece very well packed and protected in styrofoam. It also includes a glass top which is a great bonus for dusting and protects the painted design. There is a big space for storage inside but when I opened the doors one had the hinge loose and I had to reposition it. Other than that, everything was totally perfect and beautiful.

The red is much more brownish, red, a more subtle color than shown . No assembly. Yeah!

I ordered this Japanese chest as an accent piece for my dining room. Although it was superbly packed, there was very minor damage to one corner, which I easily fixed with a furniture pen. I got the "red" color - it is really more of an "oxblood" shade. The piece is very well made and expertly painted and different than what you will see in your local stores. The nice thick glass top is a nice touch. I highly recommend this chest - would also make a great bedside chest. It is not large, but just the right thing to add some color and design to your room.
