Within the city's medina (center of town), there is a souk (market) where most of the iron is handcrafted. This is also the center of trade for each city. Artisans who create Moroccan iron goods are predominantly male. Artisans range in age from teenagers to men in their 60's. In speaking to a Moroccan artisan, one will find that he/she is very proud of their art form. If the father is an artisan then the son will almost always learn the father's trade.

Overpriced.
The entire piece is very light (I expect something more substantial from 'iron'. This felt more on par with aluminium.). The overall feel was just.. flimsy, the painted finish was slightly tacky to the touch, and had bits of cardboard fuzz stuck in it, and the size mentioned (which IS vague) does in fact refer to the entire piece, not merely the mirror, despite only giving a diameter. For piece that is decidedly not round. Uh huh.In the photo, also, it looks as if the winding wirey bits are an asymmetrical frame to the mirror- in fact, the mirror juts out awkwardly, and is supported by the wiring. It isn't completely terrible, but it's certainly not worth more than ** bucks. Am returning.
