Once the British removed its armed forces from the region in the late 40s, a majority of the industries available for the local economy disappeared with them. The indigenous people went back to the traditional crafts and furniture manufacturing that they had known for generations. Beautiful and busted.
I debated ordering this piece for a while because of the cost; I like to be able to see such items in person before purchasing. That said, I think it's very handsome and the dimensions were perfect for the space chosen. Unfortunately, it arrived damaged, with the left mirrored panel cracked across the entire face and a dent on the top. I would consider trying a replacement but, based on the packaging, which I don't think is enough for furniture containing glass, think I could have another round of damage. Sadly, this is going to be returned and refunded.
