Handwoven by master craftsmen in Kashan, an ancient oasis city lying in a desert at the eastern foot of the Central Iranian Range, this rug will really tie a room together. The rug weaving traditions of Kashan date back centuries. As an important station on the ancient caravan route between Kerman and Isfahan, Kashan has long attracted skilled artisans to reside within its walls. Today the economy of Kashan is based upon the production of some of the finest carpets in Iran. Kashans are among the most prized Persian rugs because of their unique, easily recognizable patterns and intricate curvilinear design. The makers of Kashans take great pride in their work and will never weave the pattern of another city. Often their pattern is imitated but a rug expert will always point out a genuine Kashan. This rug boasts a red background with a navy border. With accents of light blue, ivory, green, and gold, it really ties a room together. Pile height measures 0.5 inch.
