Story Behind the Art:
Anyone who knew my mother knew her love of animals and I will devote my life to her causes as well. My mother, Bonny Karstadt Shah, founded the company with my father Ratilal (Ray or RN) Shah soon after they were married, in 1968. Despite my mother's passing in 2004 and my father's in 2008, I have come a fierce determination to take Maharani to a new level that would have made them proud. Both of them were dedicated to fair trade and immediately stepped in to help to rebuild homes for hundreds of villagers out of their own pocket after Kutch, part of Gujarat, was hit with a major earthquake in 2001. Both were big supporters of educating women, helping dozens of bright students get their nursing degrees, and we are continuing the dream.

Not what I expected
I have indoor/outdoor rugs so am familiar with the material, but this is made of plastic. The description does clearly state that the material is some sort of plastic but I still imagined that it would be similar to the indoor/outdoor products that I know...not the case. I kept it because it was cheap and I am using it in my art classroom in school. I don't anticipate it lasting long. I would not suggest you buy this product.

Not what I expected but I like it
I bought this because I thought the purple and ivory would look nice in our living room but when I took it our of the box, it's purple and light yellow. It's definitely yellow and not ivory. Luckily, I really like yellow and purple together so this isn't a HUGE issue. The pattern is lovely and the rug itself is very soft. It looks plastic in broad daylight but it the evening with soft lighting it looks like a regular area rug. Daylight makes the rug look yellow and purple but soft light in the evening brings out pink tones in the purple and softens the yellow to maybe ivory/cream.

- How accurate was the sizing? I haven't measured it but I think it's about 6' x 9'
