Story Behind the Art:
Anyone who knew my mother knew her love of animals and I will devote my life to her causes as well. My mother, Bonny Karstadt Shah, founded the company with my father Ratilal (Ray or RN) Shah soon after they were married, in 1968. Despite my mother's passing in 2004 and my father's in 2008, I have come a fierce determination to take Maharani to a new level that would have made them proud. Both of them were dedicated to fair trade and immediately stepped in to help to rebuild homes for hundreds of villagers out of their own pocket after Kutch, part of Gujarat, was hit with a major earthquake in 2001. Both were big supporters of educating women, helping dozens of bright students get their nursing degrees, and we are continuing the dream.

Better discription of materials made from
My ONLY complaint is I wish it had stated it was made of very similiar material as to a basket. Its almost a mix of plastic and plant fibers?? No idea... I still very much enjoy it but wont be using it as originally intended and would have went with a different rug for my purpose.

More outdoor than indoor
We purchased this for our son's apartment. It is definately more of a porch or deck rug. The colors and design are true to the picture.

- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Very thin. Although we expected it to be a synthetic rug is feels very plastic.

Color did not match the image
The color of the rug was so bright I am not able to use it on the back patio. If it was a bit more muted it would have been fine. Sometimes, it is just difficult to truly know the color of a product on the internet. I will keep and use in the garage.
