Story Behind the Art:
Individually handcrafted by artists on the exotic islands of Bali and Java in beautiful Indonesia. Sarongs are one of the most versatile and earliest forms of clothing that dates back 1,000s of year and have been utilized around the world in one form or another. These artists and their predecessors have been creating sarongs for centuries and are well known throughout the world for their skill, creativity and expertise. Specifically their skills in batik, which many of our sarongs are made using this art of batik. Batik is a design method that has been employed for centuries and is handed down from generation to generation, usually from a father to son or mother to daughter. It is an extremely difficult art to master and sons and daughters start this work at an early age because it requires a great deal of practice and patience. Each batik sarong is a work of art and can take hours and sometimes days to create depending on the difficult of the design.

Material was a little thinner then anticipated
Fabric was thinner then I was expecting, which I guess would dry quicker and not be as hot, but I was using it as a cover up....so it wasn't really the right product for me.

Love the Look of this Sarong
I really like this sarong. The color and print is beautiful and the material itself is very nice. I have not yet washed it, however, and am a little worried about the way the edges are fringed. I am going to wash by hand because the fringe edge is not actually "finished" just threads pulled to create the fringe.

This sarong is absolutely beautiful! I looked up a bunch of different way to tie it on-line and have been having great fun perfecting them all! And the shipping was so quick - I ordered it on 15the and received it on the 18th! I am officially addicted to overstock.com!
