Since the middle of the 19th Century, Mahal rugs were exclusively made for the European market. They often favored the bold, floral designs with spacious patterns. The wool of the Mahal rugs is hand spun, usually from the weaver's own sheep. The rugs are woven using asymmetrical Turkish knots to tie each loop one by one. Designs are based on small, repeating floral patterns as well as all-over, large-scale, lattice vine patterns. Today, Mahal rugs have the highest decorative value to interior designers and the discriminating collector.

interesting muted colors
Overall, I am happy with this rug, It looks wonderful in my home office where I put it on a diagonal in the room. I happen to think the colors are very nice. I would say it is a rust red and medium olive.
- Did the color match the color displayed onsite? yes, I like the muted color scheme
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. I would have prefered a slightly deeper pile however, it was , from what I understood, all hand done.
- How accurate was the sizing? slightly off in length. A few inches under 8 feet.

Plush rug
I choose this runner because it has the same colors as my daughters stair rug. Her stairs are a brighter red but since the runner is around the corner and down the hall they are close enough. It is thick and soft, very nice quality for a great price.
- Did the color match the color displayed onsite? Yes, but the red is a muted not a bright red
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Thick and plush. Lovely to walk barefoot on
