Kazak is an original Afghani design that has been woven within that last three decades. These rugs are hand-knotted in the northern part of Afghanistan by the Uzbek and Turkoman women. The main colors are always various shades of terracotta and blue. The all-natural vegetable dyes are made from roots, flower petals, and tree bark, giving this rug a natural look.

Disappointed
I have to say I was disappointed in this rug. It is not a tightly woven wool/cotton rug and therefore will wear down faster. Honestly, it looks like something I could have found at TJ Max or Marshalls for less. I have a beautiful old Indian rug that is an 8x10 in the room next to the entry hall (where this rug is now placed) and it makes this rug look cheap. Overstock seldom disappoints me. Bummer. I am keeping it just because it will get all the incoming foot traffic and at some point will need to be replaced. Still a bummer.

As always, I remain extremely impressed with the value of goods offered thru overstock. The rug arrived within a few days of placing our order and we were more than impressed with the quality. Very soft to step on, and the colors are even brighter than they appear on screen. I would definitely recommend this rug!

Great rug value
I have been looking for a rug for my foyer for over a year. I wanted a rug that would look as good as my other oriental rugs. This one fits the bill in every way. The colors are accurately pictured (the rug looks even richer in person), the pile is dense and there are more knots per inch than I expected. This rug is in a high traffic area in my house and it has qualities that should wear well over time. The price is what I had planned to spend on a synthetic rug, making this wool rug an even better value. The exceptionally fast delivery was also a plus.
