Kazak is an original Afghani design that was woven within that last three decades. These rugs are hand-knotted in the northern part of Afghanistan by the Uzbek and Turkoman women. These impeccable tribal pieces feature six predominate designs. The main colors are always various shades of terracotta and blue. The all-natural vegetable dyes are made from roots, flower petals, and tree bark, giving this rug a natural look and the impression of significance.

has the look of a handmade piece (vibrant, alive) .. colors are brighter than but nearly the same as what I see on the monitor. beautiful to look at. few weaving errors. weave is not tight (probably about 66 kpsi but I'm no expert-- i counted about 8 in an inch across and simply squared this number). because of this loose weave the rug leans more towards a Gabbeh (typically 50 kpsi); thus you would NOT mistake this for a plush or fuzzy rug though it is comfortable enough and feels good to walk on. i would recommend given this complete description.

Color unlike picture
The rug arrived much darker than depicted. Instead of a rosy red with vibrant blue, yellow and white highlights, this is a burgundy rug with dark navy, olive green and ivory accents. The construction looks solid but machine made - not really the deal I thought I was getting.
