Story Behind the Art:
The design of this rug originates in the Iranian city of Mahal, however the design was copied and re-created in India and virtually identical in design, workmanship and authenticity as the originals. Weavers of the Mahal design use the asymmetrical or Persian knot, giving their rugs exceptional softness and flexibility. Natural dyes are used to give the rugs their rich colors. This particular rug was made in the Sultanabad village by women weavers and brought to the bazaar for sale. The wool of the Mahal rugs is hand-spun from the weaver's own sheep.

Great rug - matches photo exactly
This is a great rug - nice and thick! The first one I received had an issue with some of the fibers in the middle of the rug but Overstock quickly replaced it and it looks great in the room. Buying a rug online I was worried about the colors but it really matched what I saw and fits great! Love it!

great rug
good quality rug, happy with size, color and design. rug is brown (parts that look black/dark in photos), and some parts look kind of faded, but think this is the direction of the weave. we'd buy again though, it's beautiful and a great deal in comparison to rugs we looked at in stores.

Color and Quality Disappointing
I have to say that I am disappointed with the purchase of this rug and that pains me because I have purchased 5 rugs from Overstock and have been extremely pleased with the quality and color of all of them. This is the first time I purchased one where the colors did not match up to the picture. The colors are VERY muted; they look faded and old, BUT I have decided to keep this rug because I bought it for my sunroom and it matches the colors I have painted the walls. I thought the brown would be much deeper/bolder in color as well as the rust/red colors. Also, there is a tear in the middle, but I was able to glue it back in place so it is not noticible. I considered sending it back for both of those reasons, but because that is inconvenient and I CAN match the rug to the walls, I am keeping it. It is not very soft to the touch either. I purchased a good pad for it, but even that doesn't measure up to the other rugs in my home. I would recomend this rug ONLY if you are looking for something muted and if you don't plan on sitting or lying on it much.

Lovely but not big enough
This beautiful rug arrived and I was so disappointed because I typed in 10x14 as my search information, and I was not thinking that other sizes would be included when I asked for a specific size. I chose this lovely rug and it was such high quality, but it was not the size I thought I had ordered based on the search criteria I entered. I paid over $$ to return it because it does not come in the larger size. I ordered another rug, which is also nice. Don't trust search criteria when you order. Look closely at what is in the cart!!!

The Mahal
I am happy with the purchase of the Indo Hand-tufted Mahal Brown Wool Rug. It is a beautiful addition to my dining room and complements my red wall perfectly. The carpet was true to size stated and the colors were as pictured on my computer. The carpet is shedding, filling the vacuum each time I clean and I hope that after awhile it will cease.

This rug compares to a big box store designer rug, and is absolutely gorgeous in person. It fit my needs perfectly and is super soft under foot!
