    Story Behind the Art:

    This rug was created in the Varanasi region of India, in the Bhadohi village by Mahmood and his family. All washing, spinning and dyeing of the wool are done in their home. The weaving technique is hand-tufted, which is a rug making process where weavers insert yarn into the rug backing with a hand held tufting gun to push and pull the threads through a pre-woven grid foundation. In a tufted rug, the tops of the loops are sheared to expose the ends of the threads for a softer, plusher pile.

  • Favorite rug

    I was over thrilled with this rug. When buying online you have to allow for issues and always have lived by that with overstock.....love the price, so gotta love the rug second, right???? I love this rug like I bought it on site! There is a little more aqua in it, which I love, but not enough to throw a room off. It is so thick and soft and so perfect I bought the runner as well. Not enough red either, just very muted and beautiful.

  • Pleased with the rug

    This rug is just as pictured, the exact size given, and a very good quality. The wool is densely tufted and soft. This design was more subtle and lighter in color than the other Persian style rugs, which I selected to brighten up a dark closet hardwood floor. I 'd previously returned a rug from another company that didn't meet my expectations (colors were way off), but am very pleased with this one, especially for the price!
