With a distinctive style, a gorgeous area rug from India will add some splendor to any decor. This Kilim area rug is hand-knotted with a geometric pattern in shades of blue, red, beige, green, gold, brown and ivory. This rug is a unique piece of world art that will enhance your living space.

Story Behind the Art:
Kilims are known as 'pile-less' rugs; the design is also known as slit-weave. These beautiful designs are achieved by interweaving the various colors of the vertical and horizontal strands of the rug. It can be used as a hanging piece or as a floor covering. Master World-stock weavers in India have managed to replicate this pattern, using the same traditional techniques as their Iranian counterparts. This particular rug was made by Mahmood and his family. They do the entire process of shearing, washing, and dyeing of the wool and weaving of the rugs within their own compound.

Poor color description
Rustic wool rug with lots of gold coloring. It says red and blue and looks like that in the picture, but it is not like the picture at all. I am using it in the kitchen in front of the sink, so it fits my needs. However, not what I thought it would be or really what I wanted.

Color is very different and texture is prickly
The color was very different than pictured in the photo--MUCH darker. But I decided I still liked the color and would find a different room to use the rug in. However, upon laying it on the floor I discovered that it was very prickly and uncomfortable to walk on. I think the wool was not processed enough so it left tiny 'stickers' in my skin. I ended up returning the rug and Overstock was very accomodating. If you never plan to walk barefoot on it and you want a darker color than pictured then this rug may be for you.
